Looking Back + Moving Forward
How is it the last week of 2017 already? Wow. The end of the year always blows my mind. It sneaks up on us so quickly.
A lot of people (most people) make New Year's resolutions. And then there's a group that think the whole resolutions thing is just setting yourself up for failure. I say do neither.
It's definitely a time to reflect on the year. To reflect on the lessons learned - good and bad. It's a time to decide what exactly you'll be carrying into the next year, and what you plan on leaving in the past.
This year...before the beginning of the year, take some time to just stop and do a small analysis of the past year. What were your highs? What were your lows? Where did you go stronger and where do you stand to improve?
I do think that the New Year is a perfect time to start fresh with a clean slate; but I also think sometimes it can be a little unrealistic to expect behavior changes out of yourself if you haven't been practicing in those areas already. Not to say that it can't be done, but it helps to make realistic stepping stones to achieve those goals. Our suggestion, make a list of goals that you want to achieve in 2018. Then, break those goals down into smaller attainable goals. (You can even break down those goals if possible.) To give you some accountability, set yourself time lines to achieve the smaller goals as well as the larger. This will help you begin to not only practice the lifestyle changes needed to obtain your goals, but to move forward in achieving your goals long term.
When we, as a staff, looked back at our last year to evaluate and to establish goals for ourselves, we realized we had a lot to be thankful for. We have all had good times, hard times, and growing pains, but we are all better and stronger people than we were at this time last year. No matter what kind of year you've had, try to pin point at least 5 things (more if you can) that you are thankful for.
Giving thanks and setting a plan for your goals is definitely the way to start your year off on the right foot. After all, a dream without a plan is just a wish. And 2018, is going to be the year to make your dreams realities.
Thank you guys for making this such a great year, we can't wait to see what this next year has in store for us and for you!
